I've never liked how Apple conducts business. Especially when it comes to developing apps for their store. Apple control everything and its not healthy for competition. They have already been found guilty of price fixing books - what else?

The rise of google is no surprise really and with the likes of Amazon also supporting all Android purchases, I bet that this number is even higher

You can thank Apple for starting the app revolution to which the others followed. You can thank Google for letting you search stuff. The rest is just B.S.

I have zero problems with Apple. Its their store and they can do what they want. I'm just thankful to have been given the opportunity to make games commercially thanks to them. They are more than welcome to their 30%. Infact to receive 70% is superb in all reality. There are no publishing deals in the traditional markets that would ever give you such a high percentage.

And glad to see Japan now is 2nd largest market for apps. I speak Japanese and go there all the time. Infact I'm actually planning to move my entire business out there within the next 12 to 18 months in all honesty.

BS? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23990485 I think not. Yes Apple started the revolution but now they are just playing dirty. And I dont want to purchase a Mac so I can release games on itunes _ I cant see why they force that restriction on developers as its nothing more than plain silly

Well you don't strictly need to buy a mac. You can use a cloud based service just to publish. Although personally I like macs and most of my work is done on one anyway. I'm a little anal with time management and actually worked out how many extra hours a year I and my staff get simply from the fact a mac boots up in 20 seconds compared to several mins for a pc :) Its quite a bit of extra production time in all honesty lol

Enlighten me please how this is possible without a mac? And my PC boots up inside 8 seconds. Maybe you have too much stuff bogging it down on boot

You can use something like http://www.macincloud.com/ where you rent a mac on a cloud server ad use it to publish to itunes. Saves you buying a mac until you feel the financial returns are worth while.

Our PC's at work were bloated with software but no choice in the matter, business was totally IT focused and average turn on to actually being able to run was between 3 and in one case 12 mins!!! We managed to add a few weeks additional work time by switching over to macs which represented a substantial increase in turnover

Thanks for the link, I will take a look. Our PCs at work(my day job) are VERY slow but they only have 1GB of ram. Its like going back to the dark ages when I'm there! But my home PC is super fast as I play lots of games and now this! lol

My home PC is fast but I built it myself mainly for gaming. Probably reaching that time to build another though just for the fun of it :)

Yes a lawsuit instigated by whom? Amazon went to the justice department scared for their lives, yeah no monopoly happening there huh. The case that was bias from the get go and no harm was ever done to consumers. Basing your opinion on a single regurgitated article really says a lot.

Here's a challenge, don't like Apples ways? Don't buy their devices, don't publish to their stores and don't pay for their services because, after all, you DO have a choice. That is If your really convinced they are 'playing dirty' as you see it. Live by your convictions. But before you do, don't believe everything you read. There are many players and many will do what they can to disrupt the success of Apple. And if this gets overturned on appeal will you change your thoughts? Doubtful. Just another person who doesn't get it.

There's a reason Apple has a following and it's not a out what they produce. It's because there's a company that exists with the philosophy that they want to make great things. No hidden agenda. If people like what they create or improve upon and buy it, they make money, and that's it. No mystery. No conspiracy. But there will always be those unhappy with that thought.

For a more informed opinion read John Gruber stuff http://daringfireball.net/

And I dont. It's not about success, its about playing fair. Apple arent the only ones and probably won't be the last either but price fixing is bang out of order.

Fair enough, guess its all about what you believe the truth is or if the courts were correct or not. Wouldn't be the first time.
