10.4a Promotional Bar Questions

The 10.4a release had promotional bar fixes in it. I noticed this was showing up on my app since the 10.4 and 10.4a releases. Is there a way to turn this off or is this something that non pro users have to put up with? Who's GameSalad Apps am I promoting in my App? Seems like a nuisance for people that purchase my app. They now have to close that promotional bar down before they play my app. Is this by design or is someone trying to pull something on me? It just seems kind of strange that someone is promoting there games through my game without asking. I not a pro user user so I really can't complain. I'm just not thrilled with this idea.

You're stuck with it unfortunately, and I don't think you'll be able to charge for your app with it in as Apple are likely to reject a paid for app with ads. You might be able to release it free, get it approved, then set a price for it.

This didn't seem to affect the status of my game in the app store. It was originally submitted before 10.4 and 10.4a came out and was accepted. I then had to update it twice because of GameSalad issues that related to iOS7. The promotional bar showed up during those updates. I submitted two new revisions with the promotional bar in it and it was passed both times. In may be the case that that the Apple reviewers are letting things slide because of all the app store updates related to iOS7. People are still buying my app so I can live with it.

    Hi @KevinCross.
Was your paid app rejected due to ads inside in the past? Or did you hear someone had met this situation?

I don't have a paid app, and the GameSalad bar was one of the main reasons for me upgrading to pro. I don't have experience of such rejections but I've heard it mentioned once or twice on the forums, and it kind of makes sense for it to happen, but I guess it really depends on the Apple Reviewer's mood that day.

I'd be pretty pee'd paying for an app that's got ads in it myself but it's been proven I'm not like the average App Store customer.

    Thank you for clarifying.
I just set my app free as you said, and will set it a price once it's approved.

The Apple reviewer's mood - every developer's fear.

My app was always a paid app. It was approved before the promotional bar was introduced.

@dimps620 Do your customers give bad comments about the promotional bar?
I'm afraid it will affect my overall app rating. Until I become pro, oh... :(

So far it hasn't affected my app. To tell you the truth people are buying it but not leaving feedback. I'm only having a handful of sales every week now. I got two more apps that I'm finishing and will have to see what happens with them. I'm hoping that my sales will be proportional to the number of apps I'm selling. Build it and the will buy it philosophy. My apps aren't aren't very polished but the buying audience is large. Keep on pushing out apps and make money.
