Time machine backups are a part of MacOS - Dropbox also has 'previous versions' - Windows has back ups too - if you are not using these then prepare to lose everything.

With windows just go to 'backup' in the run or search dialogue - if you do not have a backup already running it will not be active and you are out of luck. You can try a restore to a previous date in windows - that's risky as you will loose everything you did after that date. If you ran dropbox for your games you could do this instantly - think about cloud backups for your important stuff - and regular local backups.

Sorry but you can't undelete and re-use a file that was corrupted as far as I know.

Perhaps this is one of those times when you learn a great lesson as I have time and time again - that was a long time ago tho ;)

If you published it to test on your device you can download the last version you published via the GameSalad site. Next to the generate and sign app button you'll see a download app button.

    1. My Mac creates copies of my projects and uploads them to Dropbox, automatically
How do you do this one please? Mine are saved on Dropbox but I work on the file on Dropbox so if the same happened with me and the file got corrupted/deleted I wouldn't have a back up. I do have back ups of course because I create a copy of the file on Dropbox manually and add a date to the file name. But it sounds like you've got a schedule thing going on that copies them to Dropbox. Is that correct?

I would also like to add in a piece of advice. When saving your GameSalad file, you should NEVER just keep replacing the old one. When I save, I replace the existing file a few times but I am usually saving a new file. I sometimes have between 30-100 saved files of the same game or app to cover my butt. You can always delete those later. Say you did some work and saved over an exhausting file but then decided you wanted to go back, you can't. Or if a file got deleted, you can go back to a previous file even though you may have lost some work, it wouldn't be everything. Most important advice I can give you is what I said above and BACK UP your stuff! Hope you can recover your stuff because I know how horrible it is to lose something you have put so much time into.

6 months of work and you never once wanted to see what it was like on a device?

There's another solution on recovering your game. If you've sent your game recently to the viewer then download a Mac app called iExplorer (you'll need to check if it has a trial period) and then you get the gameproj file from that.

It sits in this location on your device:

    Apps/GS Viewer/Documents/stored_games/

There will be a folder for each game.

@KevinCross i know it seems silly to test it, but the reason i didnt test it on devices was because i did not currently own an apple licence and my brothers mac was being fixed, as i use a pc.

but the only reason i am annoyed at this game being deleted is that i spent ages making the code so it wouldn't lag, alongside making the whole game in one scene. :/
    its just unfortunate i guess

That is a bummer then! :(

I guess in the future if you know someone with an Apple iOS Developer license, perhaps you could get them to install the viewer on your device, it's not something that you'd need them to install too often and it'll give you one extra source of back up should all other back up options fail.

That happened to me with a website once. Managed to rewrite much of it from memory
once I started it came together faster than I thought it would. And cleaner code.
The writing experience is never wasted. Hope you can get it back though.
