Hello,

I was wondering if someone could link me to an old thread that show how to simply make it so no matter if the player plays on iphone 4 or 5, your game will scale to match the device please?

Thanks!

    Can you post the video link please, I can't find it no where.
    Or if you know an easy way, please link me, I don't know how to make it so if I play on iPhone 5 or iPad that it'll resize itself and fit.

    You know GameSalad could finish the stretch to fit publishing option and it would be a price of cake...

    @tenrdrmer Wait, lol so what are you saying. I can just click something and it'll do it for me?

    @charliehgreen No, I believe the stretch option @tenrdrmer is referring too is not finished yet by GS.

    I wish you could choose what device each scene fits. That way I could always use the if device size is.......... got to scene. If device size is ..go to scene

    @FINNBOGG that would be a terrible feature if gamesalad brang that in, for it would not work in bigger projects.

    You can do "if device screen size = 480 (or whatever the different size is) then change self position x to self position x - 40 or size -30" I hope that makes sense. Just use the device screen size attribute

    I actually use aspect ratios instead of device screen size. It takes some math work and understanding to get working though. No one ever seems to understand when I try explaining it though so I'm not gonna get into it here. I think in just kinda a shitty teacher.

    GameSalad really just needs to finish this feature. And push it out to us. They have it working in the nightly builds on the creator side. They just need to push it onto the publishing side.

    @blackcloakgs and news on this??

    Right now there's no easy way to do it!

    When making my latest game, I had in mind that I may have to do the screen variation stuff manually, so designed the layout in a way that would minimise any hassle.

    It's a portrait game. I therefore tried to keep everything within certain boundaries, but still useable on all screens.

    If you look at the game on an iPad, and then on an iPhone, you'll see there's 'extra space' on the sides on the iPad version, and it's a lot tighter on iPhone.

    I found that on the main title and options screen, because I'd planned ahead, I didn't have to do a great deal to have it look good on multiple devices.

    The main game screen however needed to be adjusted (X/Y origins etc) even though it was on the same scene as the menus. I also had to adjust some actor sizes slightly.

    A little trial and error got that working. I made a copy of my latest file, then experimented to see what would work on that before implementing it into my actual game.

    The things I had to move, mainly regarding the HUD and @blue_elephant has the right idea with how you'd go about this.

    Hope that helps somewhat,

    QS =D
