Release it all now or release over updates?!

Hello all,

Another discussion, this time about, the content in a game.
What are you thoughts of limiting the content, and when I say limiting I mean leave out things on purpose so you can add them later in updates?

For example, I have a game, it has 150 levels, as well as two arcade modes. Would it be better to release all at once, or just release the 150 levels, then after a week or three release one of the modes and then the other a week or so later.

Pros - gets people talking, like hey new mode just came out, gets people back interested in the game.

Cons - a bit less content than originally plan?

Any cons or pros or opinions on this? Smart move, not so smart, doesn't matter?

Keep on developing
:D

Release new features as updates. It means you get to release something sooner, before you get bored developing it, and you keep people hooked a little longer.

Personally, I would do planned updates. In the games business, all DLC comes from parts of the game. It's decided which parts will be DLC and then that gets released in stages.

Importantly, it keeps content fresh and gives players a reason to login and play. It also gives new players a reason to download your game if they didn't the first time around as they can see its being regularly updated.
