Line of Sight that connects two character, RPG Style Game

My question might be an easy one, but i am not understanding the concept of it.

So i have a fighting scene setup, and when my enemy moves towards my player when he is in a certain distance automatically they start to attack each other. What i am trying to do is, i want to have a visible line or path that connects the enemy and my player, so you can tell that it has recognized the enemy when its coming at you when it hits that certain distance and the line or path starts to become smaller until the player or the enemy is in front of the character. Is there any way to do this, because i know this will have to be like an actor which needs to be setup with alpha settings so its invisible and only turns on when its in a certain distance of the character, or maybe off screen, or i am not sure how this will come into play. I also want the line that connects the 2 together to be able to move properly on the screen with the x and y, because this is an RPG game. Any insight or any direction would be wonderful! and i would really appreciate it!

Add this to the end of the file name . . .

    .gameproj

@Socks, which file name, because there are so many, have you tried downloading one and seeing it, because the actually file that opens up with either mac or windows version of gamesalad is not there at all.

Just downloaded them now, they both work fine.

Are you on a PC ?

The file you download from the link above . . . try adding .gameproj to the end of the file name.

    It should look like this:
