Amazon and non-amazon devices - publishing on Amazon issues

Hi all

After several days of testing, failing etc etc, it's clear that we (as in gamesalad users) can't take advantage of Amazons Developer Select program. This program is targeted at universal builds (works on ALL Android devices, Kindle and normal ones).

Why?
I've uploaded several packs and my current one, which was an Android only download WITH Amazon API included, fails to open on all android devices such as Samsung and older 1st-2nd generation Kindles.

If I used a Kindle only APK - everything works fine but we can't select (all non-amazon devices) because the error message (Only on kindle) will appear. You can still check this but you will still get the error on anything but a Kindle. It also means that it works on ALL Kindles (1st-current generation).

I've set up two versions now - a Kindle Edition and Android, with the Android edition not doing very well at all.

So this is just a heads up really when publishing to Amazon, unless I am doing something wrong?

you must be doing something wrong, I do have a few apps that are elligable for developer select, although not my older once since they are not HD or missing some of the requirements like gamecircle. When they say it doesn't open on older kindles what do they mean? Does it crash?

I have a gen 1 kindle, a gen2 kindle HD, and soon to have a motorola G that I test all my android games on.

Just says the app exits on start up. All the Kindle 3rd gen were ok, but the rest had the same issue.

Its annoying, because it was working before(but not as non-amazon) but since I updated my sdk with amazon stuff, I have had more problems updating Amazon than anything else. Odd!

Im going to remove and reinstall the sdk incase something there is broken or missing

you should pickup a used kindle fire 1st gen on ebay, they go for like 60-80 dollars. it's been very helpful in testing my apps.

In the past all of my Amazon apps have been published to all devices including non-Amazon apps fine, but recently(last week) my apps on there are now failing on non-Amazon Android devices.

    Steps to recreate error:
    1. Install & Launch the app
    2. Tap on Settings icon, text is in the form of blocks. (unreadable text)

Works and shows up fine on Amazon, Nook, and iOS devices. Not sure what's going on with Android publishing with Gamesalad….

@jigglybean have you had any resolution with your issue? What was the reason they gave you for failed testing on non-Amazon Android devices?

My Android apps keep exiting on loading. I uploaded again to Amazon but used the amazon publishing, so the app cant be played on other Android devices, which is all working fine now.

I havent published to android again but my last update on google play, is exiting on loading. I am certain its something is up with the GS publisher for Android. I've another app going up this weekend, so I will see whats going on

I've been running into this lately as well. I've been updating apps and they all are failing developer select. They kick me back "Device Compatibility - Failed"

    "Issues
Apps displays an error message during use
    Devices Affected
Android devices (e.g., HTC One, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3)
    Kindle Fire HD 8.9"
    Kindle Fire HD 7""

Not sure what is going on here. Anyone run into this and solve it? @jigglybean did you get this solved?

Not resolved but I have sent in a ticket. Just waiting for the New Year break to end. There simply is no way around it as I have tried everything.

Are you using the "Kindle" or "Android" publishing platform when you create a build?

Ive been using Kindle but I suspect that is the issue. I just submitted the same build but created as an "Android" app rather than "Kindle". Will post my results as well.

Also did you update your Android SDK? I just did that this morning as well.

I used Android to publish for both. But it didnt work, so had to go down the Kindle route and make it only for kindle devices, which is an insta fail for developer select program.

    I check my sdk daily.

Only just about to start looking into this myself for the first time...

Finally putting an old iOS game on Android.

I want to add a leaderboard so GameCircle it is then... or building my own one using the new Send/Get tables Url thing-a-me-jig.

Is Gamecircle now fully accessible to all Android devices? ... with GameSalad builds?...

Yes it is. Not sure if Googleplay acknowledges them as I don't have any icons on the game page despite it using Gamecircle.
