PSA: Tizen emulator locking up your mac when running mavericks

If you try and run the Tizen emulator on a mac that is running Mavericks, there is a good chance it is going to lock up. You can read about the bug here:

https://jira.appcelerator.org/browse/TIMOB-15455?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel

Mavericks is currently not supported by HAXM so running the Tizen emulator will result in a crash. HAXM is the Intel® Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager. In november they pushed a hot fix:

http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-hardware-accelerated-execution-manager-end-user-license-agreement-macos-hotfix

If you download and install it (you might get a message about it already being there, and a message at the end about unsigned), the emulator works properly in mavericks.

@jonmulcahy thanks. I reckon that has saved me a large chunk of time I would have spent trying to figure it out the problem and get the emulator to work.

Thank you for this! I just tried to run the emulator and it locked up my computer and then I remembered... Hold on a second, didn't I read something about this? Thanks for saving me a lot of time troubleshooting!

    HotFix does this:

The kernel extension at “/System/Library/Extensions/intelhaxm.kext” is not from an identified developer but will still be loaded.

Please contact the kernel extension vendor for updated software.

    But it works! Finally!
