Hi are we restricted only at size 50mb per app? why does other apps size around 150mb?

Hello again @ecanhoj The max. file size is 2gb (for the iTunes store anyway, don't know about Android, etc, although bound to be similar).

50mb refers to the max. file size that can be downloaded directly onto the iDevice - iPhone, iPad, whatever... (it used to be 20mb). Any larger than 50mb and the app needs to be downloaded onto the iDevice via a computer.

Another consideration though: although the store will accept apps as large as 2gb, the GameSald server when publishing might give you a few problems with extra-large files…

There used to be problems trying to publish stuff larger than 400mb or thereabouts, in the past, but I think hopefully that's been resolved… although files like 800mb or larger could still give problems (I'm guessing) including time-out messages.

2gb is quite large hehehe im planing to have a new game that involves highres graphics but when i check it, it would take me more than 50 mb like 150-300mb. I am publishing the app as universal.Thanks for sharing!

The computer part isn't totally true. Above 50mb and you need to be connected to Wifi. It's now a maximum of 100mb before you need to be connected to Wifi or download in iTunes on your computer.

ohh that's good hope a 300mb app is fine

Should be fine. I've downloaded bigger GameSalad games from the App Store.

The only problem with big games is that people can't download them while on the move so you may lose a small handful of people that aim to download it later on when they're on a Wifi connection but forget etc.

You're right to correct me about the computer part. OK, a more clear explanation: 50mb or below can be downloaded via a 3G or 4G service, anything above needs either a wi-fi connection to download or download via a computer (this is talking about Apple apps).

Nope, but try and download one bigger than 100MB and iOS will tell you that it's over 100MB and that you can't download it. I got this message this morning trying to download @Fal01's game
