Accepting Bitcoin?

I don't really like using online payment methods like paypal or credit cards,
and was wondering... are there any plans to accept bitcoin (or litecoin/dogecoin) in the future for the marketplace or PRO?

If not, why not? A company like gamesalad seems perfect for it.

What's wrong with PayPal? I have been using them for years and have had nothing but great experience. I believe that the number of people that use Paypal and the other forms to the people that don't like using or don't want to is very minimal and you can't make everyone happy. Companies can't do everything to please everyone. Just saying! :)

Hi @WiFiPunk My guess: never. Nor will many other companies… I personally think, (the following based on just a few articles I've read though) that Bitcoin has had its day and will never become mainstream… especially after being "hijacked" by the cybercrime underground, the silk road drugs thing, etc.

Also, I'll be honest, I still don't get it fully… and I know a lot of other people who don't as well. (Please don't explain it though either, I've read enough but still can't see the point, etc. and not really interested anyhow.)

Bitcoin or some other similar option may have it's day, but it's no where near main stream acceptance and won't be for many many years. IMHO.

I'm not here to explain the logistics, I was just curious because I would be happy to pay using it. With services like coinbase offering 0% fees to new merchants, and the support it would bring from curious bitcoin enthusiasts. Plus the lack of paypal's fees and chargebacks. I just assumed they'd looked into it and not thought there would be any interest. I pay for every humblebundle with it, why not gamesalad? Assuming the web dev's are able to take a the time to implement it as a check out option that is. If they're too busy with other stuff, I could understand putting it on the back burner.

@gyroscope I have no idea where you got your information, but again I'm not here to explain anything unless consulted directly. Most merchants don't really care to know much more then they have to past setting up bitpay (www.bitpay.com) or coinbase (www.coinbase.com) which can exchange it immediately and transfer it to their bank.
  • Yeah. I guess it’s time to integrate bitcoin payment system. A lot of gaming portals have been accepting this new payment method, and you should not be left behind in this growing trend. After all, it is for the sake of your business, too.

I'm sure traders, pool operators, cryptocoin exchanges, video\asics companies, and..... your local electricity company are turning a dollar from it. Pretty much useless internationally for joe public to do anything legit though.

What's wrong with paypal? Do a google search and read the horror stories.
Anyone who moves big dollars through their service will have their money frozen. My frozen funds ordeal lasted months and I got real familiar with what is wrong with paypal. Their customer service reps being top of the list. The whole time they had my money frozen, they still accepted all new transactions, basically increasing the amount they were freezing. This happens to people all of the time.

I think you're far more likely to get hacked using Bitcoin then paypal or anything else. The chinese adapted Bitcoin for some stuff.. 'nuff said.
