Hi everybody :)
I'm actually thinking of make a website where you could buy gamesalad templates just like gshelper and DeepBlueApps.
•What do you think of that?
•What templates do you want to see?
I'm greatful for every opinion

That's great you are going solo. Competition shouldn't be frowned upon, but a motivation for other GS template sellers to up their game and come up with new and innovative templates that can help indie developers build upon. I have a great respect for DBA (Darren and Wayne have solidified their ranks as a great go to service for GS templates) and GShelper (T-shirtbooth rocked the world with his video help and templates in the dawn of GS) and after it was transitioned to the new crew, they have been keeping up with the legacy (minus the frequent T-shirt videos). Example: There are Candy Crush/Bejeweled Templates available from multiple parties, but if you dig deep into them they are merely a basic match 3 game. In my opinion if you market a template with the name of a game it's claiming to be, then it should function exactly as the clone it it claiming to be, and would only need a re-skinning. So in respect to those who sell these game templates, if it's not complete it should be marketed as a core game mechanic of the game instead of the game template. As far as the templates that you want to create then you have a few choices, a core mechanic, a true clone template, or a new idea weather it's complete or core function. And if you want to push the boundaries of what GS templates have offered in the past….Games aren't the only apps that are available (Utilities, etc) I've seen your posts and know what you are capable of and know that you will sit amongst the top of the GS services crew if you proceed…so do it, I'm sure you will take a few $ from me in the future : ) good luck with your venture!

I would like to see more templates available. They dont have to be complete games to just re skin. I would like to see templates that had more than one controller to choose from...and more top down view templates. Like a FPS with weapons switch....i know what I want to do...I just dont have all the knowledge it takes. I am learning, however one day I hooe to see that one template I can really...really build on. The GS free ones....hmmm....yea thats why their free. Certainly charge for your templates.

The link to the above post by @Fajlajp should be copied and pasted whenever those "Hey, what's a good game I should make?" threads pop up. :D

I would suggest something that hasn't been done, I counted 17 from the list that have already been covered some more than once :)

Another problem you will have is traffic and forum rules (your only supposed to advertise free templates although we're guilty of bending the rules, hands up) we spent 3 years solid working to build traffic to DBA so if your just planning on just selling to GSMarketplace the return might not be high enough for you.

I would also suggest looking outside of GS, gmstudio and unity for eg is 2 of them we will be looking into during 2014 (we already have some nice corona).

We were the 1st to start selling templates so had a bit of a head start but it requires a hell of a lot of work, the bigger you get the more support emails you can expect (I'm here 16 hours a day 7 days a week for support or general questions). Also there's the shopping cart and website fees we get approx 3 million hits a month so need a reliable server and our shopping cart system is £500 a year (expensive but we have a large digital vault and can do a lot of extras behind the scenes other carts can't do).

Not trying to put you off just trying to make you see the bigger picture.

The customer service is my number 1 priority (I hope our members can vouch for that) you let 1 person down by not getting back in 24 hours or unable to help and they will certainly think twice before buying from you again.

    Best of luck.

    Darren.

@Fajlajp I agree with @DeepBlue Apps (Darren) as far as the list you provided, many have been done and some free as far as template/core mechanics are concerned. Running a site is much more than just creating services for your customer base…it's managing that base with timely responses, a well as timely updates when bugs have been detected in your templates. (And we all know how much time can be spent) But with that being said, if you feel like you can handle running a successful business solo, then go for it, if you question it, don't give up…perhaps you just need a partner/partners. In this business and in my opinion, you need a full time artist, coder, tester, customer support, marketer, and someone behind the scene making sure it all comes together at the very least.

    Best of luck

    Dan

Oh...btw...i have been thinking hard about this thread...no my head doesnt hurt...:-)...how about some simple templates of a few ganes that are no brainers. Like can be controlled by mearly tilting device side to side...or just with a single thumb. Something that give player 20 minutes or even less of gameplay. But, something with a highscore and a few power ups to look forward too. And aggrevating. Really want to sink that hook.

    @DeepBlueApps
Thanks for letting me understand more. To hear that from you that have so much experience in this is really great :) I will take everything you said into consideration.
I know that I not will be as big as you and wayne and to get 3 million hits a month... That's not even to talk about ;) But I think I could provide some quality templates to the community and earn a few bucks ;)
