Apple employees can't make apps

So I got a job at an Apple store as a specialist. You have to sign an intilectual property agreement with Apple and I'm told this means I cannot distribute apps! Has anyone else heard of this?

Looks like my fiancée is going to become an "Apple Developer" now! Anyone think that would be a problem as a work around?

It would only ever become an issue if your iPhone work got really popular and Apple found out your fiancée was not the actual developer...

In that case, you would be fired...and making millions(at least more that you do at the store)!

What you could do is make apps for people and agree an amount, then they would publish it for you

My thoughts are it's no different than if someone signs up as an apple dev, hires a programmer, and then submits it. Apple never really knows who did the coding, just the person submitting it.

Congrats on the job, says a lot of good things about a person to get hired by Apple, you will benefit from all sorts of insider info Are you not registered as a dev already?

Thanks! I am registered and I can contiue to register, I just can't submit apps with my name on them is what I'm told. My current apps are fine as well, just can't do anything new in my name.

Yes, this is true. My friend is the manager at my local Apple store. He is prohibited from making apps, among many many other things, due to the obvious conflict of interest. It's funny, even as friends, he can't divulge a single number to me. Even in passing, we talk about how crazy the iPad 3G line was on opening day. His answer, even to me, was pretty much scripted. They train you very well there.

As for him wanting to develop, he has always approached me with ideas for me to try to do. That's about the extent of his involvement.

I suppose if you come out with a blockbuster title, you better have your bases covered, as with most companies that make you agree that anything you create while under their employ can be considered THEIR intellectual property.

Agreed! I don't think I'll have anything major hit but I will make sure I am careful! If it's not under my name I don't think I will have a problem. I specifically asked about family members who share my last name and they said nope, ONLY me.

If I can manage to reach $100 a day and maintain it, I will probably quit work and focus on this alone and then I should have no problems! We will see how it plays out.
