Popcorn Animation

Hey everyone,

i'm creating a small animation but i'm stuck on one part. In this particular scene, i'm trying to make individual popcorn pieces shoot out of the box in random directions upward. I got the pieces to shoot up but they follow the same predictable path. I had trouble with this in my other project also. Can't seem to fix the problem lol

. . . . a sight improvement - I've randomised the upward velocity a bit so they don't all pop up at the same speed, looks a bit more realistic:
