I thought it might be a good idea to create a progress thread for the Gamesalad Textbook eBook, so here it is. So far, i think I've completed chapter one, and I was wondering what you guys thought about it. here it is:

Here's chapter one. tell me what you guys think:

Chapter 1

Welcome To Gamesalad

Hello. I would like to welcome to the world of Gamesalad Game Creation.

What is Gamesalad?

Gamesalad is one of the most advanced Game Creation programs for non-programmers. It enables the average joe to create the game of his/her dreams.

Who is Gamesalad for?

Gamesalad is for the non-programmer, or even the programmer who would like to spend more time on the art and level design, and less time on struggling with their codes.

So? What will this book teach you?

This book will teach you how to use the Gamesalad program, and create some pretty cool looking games.

Well, thats enough with the introduction. Lets get to work!

    A quick progress update:

So far, chapter 2 is almost completed, and the book has been tested on the iPad in iBooks. so far, so good. And please, I can't make this book by myself. If you have any interest at all in helping out with the book, then please say so. Remember, this book is by the community, for the community

Do you have an outline for the ebook? What each chapter will cover and what topics you want to cover?

IDE be glad to help with what I can! My schedule is a little crazy but I've always got a good amount of free time.

Send me an email at kbegemandev@gmail.com and we can discuss some ideas!

Ok folks, I have the first two chapters completed. They are:
Chapter One - Welcome to Gamesalad
    Chapter Two - The Interface

So, now I'm stuck. what would you guys like to see? Would you like to see how to make a simple game, or something else?

I think simple tutorials are the way to go. Maybe walk the user threw a few small seemingly irrelevant ones (making an actor move with keys, etc.) then tying them into a larger tutorial.

Do you have a chapter on building logic for existing game styles yet? I'd like to not have to reinvent the wheel each time I want to make a derivative style. How about a chapter for basic logic for centipede, snake, dig-dug, space invaders, galaga, joust, tempest, tank. Just add new graphics and soundtracks and you've got new entertainment.

That's what I want in the book. Anyone can make that?

ok, so far, chapters 1 & 2 are basically complete. Chapter 3, however, needs some work. What type of simple game should i show how to make? Something easy like Catch Cooper? Or something else?

    What is Catch Cooper?
  • castmembercastmember Member Posts: 64
its a game i made a while back. its where you catch my friend cooper, in a basket

Maybe you should try something more commercial? Like space invaders? Or tempest.
  • castmembercastmember Member Posts: 64
i dont mean create catch cooper, i mean create a catch something in a basket game, or something simple like that
