Hi, I put money towards an iPad 3 for my wife as a belated Christmas present about a week ago...

Just have to put down in writing how impressed I am with the sound quality.... it blows the sound on the iPad 1 out of the water! Hearing it playing a vid. or similar from another room, I honestly keep thinking the sound is coming from a TV....

OK, that's all I wanted to say!!! :-)

Edit: just to add, because they brought the speakers to face the front is a lot of the improvement, I guess? Makes me wonder why they didn't do that first time around...

Placing something behind the speaker grill (experiment with different surfaces / objects) enormously improves the quality / volume too.

That's interesting -- I have the "old" iPad 2. It's speakers are okay, but now I'm eager to hear the iPad 3's...Or even better the iPad Air's.

Ah, so it sounds like the 2 is not much better than the 1 or even the same... yes, Bray, the 3 sounds excellent - surprising that such a good quality sound is coming out of such tiny speakers... I seem to remember they added more porting inside the iPad to help with the bass end... (as well facing the speakers to the front)...

Don't know if the 4 or the Air are even better sound quality than the 3.... that'd blow me away if they were... :-)
