Larger Images in Gamesalad

Is there any way you can use larger images in Gamesalad in what it would consider a "safe" way? Or any way at all? I'm working on a platformer, and I have an image that has all of the tiles set up, and the size is like...3,000x800 pixels. I tried importing it manually through the package contents, but it wouldn't show up when I opened the project.

An image that has tiles set up? That defeats the purpose of tiles/tile sets.

For staters, what device are you planning on publishing this to?

Well I wasn't going to use a tile set on the actual game due to a lack of snapping to grid features. So I made the level using tiles on a separate program and put it into the project. I still don't know wether I'm going to put this on the iPhone or on the Mac.

Cant you just split the image up in like four pieces?

This has worked for me in the past, though I'm not sure how 'safe' it is...

Create your image at 3000 x 800 pixels

When you import into Gamesalad and it warns you about resizing it, let Gamesalad resize the image.

Create a new actor using the image in Gamesalad and adjust its size in the Actor Attributes back up to 3000 x 800 pixels.

Seems to work fine... though like I said not sure if it's 'safe'. :)

I was actually thinking of that, and I probably will. I was just hoping there was another way, because that way would be a little bit annoying for me.

I actually did do that, but the pixel smoothing really bugs me. It's a retro NES looking game, so I wanted to have the pixels very visible and sharp.

I'm pretty certain devices have limits... like a non-retina iphone is 480x320.. anything larger and it won't load... non-retina ipad 1024x768 , etc.
