Do you think it's safe to import a wifi iPad into the UK through eBay?
Are there any settings or hardware stuff that is only for US and when it gets released on UK will be changed for the UK?

Thanks

I reckon it would be fine, thats how i got my 1st iphone imported through ebay before they came to the UK. Just email the seller asking if everything will work ok, if he says yes and it doesnt at least you've got the email that states it would be ok. My gut feel is that everything would work like normal but dont quote me on it

Lots have people have imported - they work fine.

One drawback is you can't currently access the App Store from the iPad itself. To get round this you can set-up a US iTunes account and access it via a US based VPN...or just use iTunes on your computer and sync.

The US power adapter won't be much use, but it will charge over USB.

They should be out in 2 or 3 weeks over here though...Monday 10th is the announcement.

I have had an iPad imported into France through ebay. Just make sure the sender marks it as gift so you don't have to pay customs.

For the app store, I created an apple us account and buy gift card codes from eBay, I pay 51 dollars for a 50 dollar code. It works out cheaper as songs, apps, films and tv shows are cheaper in the states.

The expected price of an iPad in France is 499euro, I paid 460euro for mine and that includes postage.

I like to have everything complete so if the import iPads have the wrong power adapter and the AppStore is only for US people that I'll think I'd rather wait for the monday announcement and then pre-order one

The power adapter is the same type as the MacBook, just smaller, so you can either use the uk attachment for your MacBook adapter or the two pin standard cable like from a printer, or battery charger. I have had no problems what so ever.
