Thread to discuss' Things for players to do whilst waiting there go in your multiplayer game.

If your multiplayer game design involves short moments of gameplay you may want to add elements to keep them playing in your game.

Options I've thought of so far:

- Start/join another game.
- Customise your game character/car/flat
- Shop in your in game store.
- Use the in game messaging
- Press an advert.

Depending on the kind of game I'd say 'prepare their next move' ?

Agree with @socks there. But if it's a game like "bike race" then there could be single player aswell. So it really depens on what turn based game your making.

Agreed, I think what will happen is that people will start (if they are not already) to design elements to their game that take into account the waiting time between goes . . .

So for example, if you are jumping cars up ramps and over ravines to score points, then while the other player is taking their turn you might be pumping up the power on your engine by repeatedly and rapidly taping a button - seeing how much power you can build up before your time runs out and it's your turn to go.

    That kinda' thing !

I agree with say word game or strategy type game you'd be contemplating your next move like chess for example.

    Mini-games.

Like an accelerometer-type game that allows you to traverse a randomly-generated space, which may or may not have an impact on your actual game (e.g. rare chance of stumbling upon an uncommon/rare item that carries over to the actual game).

    Can contain Easter eggs.

Definitely agree on the planning the next move for word / strategy based games...

Then I suppose there's always the fact we could impose a time limit for a player to make a move... i.e. take your move in the next 30 seconds otherwise your out of the game... this would suit a card game (online poker).
