Empty space in my actors keep getting filled with black

in Working with GS (Mac)
I am currently remaking Mario 1-1 as practice, and for some reason any time I open GameSalad back up, the empty space to the side of stairs facing the left side fill up with black, I can fix the issue by replacing the sprite with the same picture from the file on my computer (and yes, it is the same file).

Side note: I am using the PC version
