You accuse people of being offended, but you yourself are being indignant at any suggestion made to counter your argument. This thread is no longer about constructive discussion, and now just about if you are right or those who disagree with you are right.

Many people have responded clearly and politely to your original post. To respond to your latest question, if GS released a version 1.0 next week I'd not expect much to change. For a release version to be reached, lots of little steps along the way must be reached first. Of course not much is going to be different between the release version and the release before it. That's the very nature of software development, and of betas.

As to when version 1.0 is reached, I'd imagine that GS felt they were fairly close to it. Then they tore out a lot of the back end and started rewriting it. I suspect they have a small handful of front-facing features they want to add, and a bunch of stuff behind the scenes they want to change/improve/work on. I'd say version 1 is a fair way off now, but that we'll see only minimal changes that aren't behind the scenes.

    @FINNBOGG

I have your answer as to why GS is still in Beta.

You ready for this.... ITS BIG!!!

    Drum roll please
    ...
    ......
    .........

They did it to TROLL you!!! They sat in their office one day and were like, "our software is ready to come out of Beta". Then one of them had a vision. "One day a developer will come along by the name of FINNBOGG. By leaving the decimal point over one digit and leaving it in Beta we can troll him. He will lose many nights of sleep over this. He will eat his food all the while pondering, "why is it still in Beta!?". With each new stable release he will scream at his computer "WHY!?!?". It will be the most epic of trolls."

They proceeded to vote this decision. The unanimous decision was: We shall troll. We shall troll hard!

Congratulations GS team. You have made a perfect Troll Time Bomb. It took many years, but has finally made its impact.

Wow life is full of issues people are starving in Africa et.. And the magnanimous question of life that keeps you awake at night is why Gamesalad still calls the software beta. I think you need a vacation...lol

Hahaha. Well at least your idea has a comical relief to it.

And no I don't agree or disagree with any of you. I think armeline is the only one who has tried to guess. I was hoping someone from GS would come on and give us a brief idea of what's still on the to do list. That will take them out of beta.

So as far as I can tell the only place it even says beta is on the small startup window when you launch Gamesalad and thats the issue here..:)

Guys. It's just a topic I'm curious about. And so far I've looked at all the responses as personal theories as to what it will take and why it is not. I don't disagree. I just feel that my curiosity about the topic hasn't been fulfilled. Some answers didn't seem logical based on other softwares use of the term beta. Bugs and features are part of new releases and new features being added to a product. A feature is something added. Or part of the original working product. So I personally don't feel that those are legit enough reasons for the discussion of to beta or not to beta.

    I will try one more...

It's when Goals have been completely satisfied by the owner of Gamesalad, and things are more stable then they are now.

    That stuff is ever changing.

I can't believe how much the term 'beta' affects your mindset - smoke much?

Doesn't bother me. But once I have a curiosity about something. It's there till it's no longer there.

I do agree it would be nice for someone from the GameSalad team to outline their intentions for the beta period. What do they want to achieve between now and release?

Nice, but by no means necessary.

I'll keep using it either way, and keep enjoying doing so.

I suspect the reason is as simple as this: GameSalad want to release a really polished version 1 and they have literally no compelling reason to release it a single moment before they're entirely happy with it.

I agree. And there lies the enigma. With the forever additions to the road map. The forever additions to failing ad services and buggy features. The road map adding features to a list of features that are still forever buggy. With the constant debate over what features should take president over the others. Will the moment of "entirely happy" ever come to pass? Or will they finally decide that there is no way they will ever be 100% happy.

I myself always thought beta was a work in progress. So when I think of GS I would have thought the nightly builds were beta and what I downloaded from the main website would be a full version. Quite frankly I didnt even pay attention to it saying beta...but it does. I wont download the nightly build for the simple reason I thought o it being "beta" and that not all the kinks have been worked out.

If what Im using is beta then its fine by me. Although I havent brought it up...everytime I try to load a new image...it freezes...I have to force quit...restart and then I can load new images. I have lost plenty if work because of this and now I just have to save everytime before I koad an image or set of images. I usually load them all before I start a buikd anyways but sometimes a new image needs to be edited and replaced.

This seems to be going in circles and for that reason I am closing it.
