Sound files and music

Okay, I've searched and even looked through the cookbook and only thing I could find was a blurb on sound at the bottom of this page.

So I want to know everything that needs to be known about sound files in GS so that I don't make any mistakes like getting the wrong kind of music file or using the wrong program. Also, I'm on windows and I see people talk about using garageband to create their music. Is their a windows equivalent? I tried using google search to find it, but I want to make sure I use a program that outputs sound files that GS can read.

Frooty loops for windows would be a great tool.

Thanks. But I think the demo version doesn't let you save until you register and buy, unfortunately, meanwhile garageband is free on macs. :( FL costs like $100-200, and I already used up my budget on adobe suites.

A month ago, I had downloaded a free music program that only makes midis, but nothing I made was readable by GameSalad, so I put off music for a while. I can't remember where or what files Gamesalad reads for sounds. I remember seeing it somewhere, but it was a random post, and search isn't helping.

What sound formats does GS read?
