Hi guys

Im having real problems with importing and displaying text from a excel CSV file!

If i just do a blank table and add my own text values it works fine and my joke app shows the jokes fine but when i use a excel CSV file with reloaded jokes on the spreadsheet it doesn't show anything on my game...

The table on Gamesalad looks fine and the table is set as TEXT but when i call row 1/col 1 it doesn't show any text, even when the table is loaded with text.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys.

I export/import from excel all the time, a few times a day.

Can you post a screenshot of your row maybe? And a copy if the rule?

It's likely you have an invalid character in one or more cells of the Excel file. Things like accents can throw off the import function. Try making a subset of the csv file (1 row and one column for example) and see if that works. If it does, try larger and larger subsets until you determine the problem.

See my signature for instructions on how to post a screenshot.

I've just discovered that my imported list has blanks in it...can you delete rows in tables?

Also my list has 1497 rows in it...is there a limit on how many rows you can have?

Would blank rows make it not work? scratching my head now as if i use a blank table and just type in stuff it works fine..import from excel and it doesn't like it.

The thing is also....my excel original file has no blank rows? - odd :(

There seems to be a limit on the rows...changed my list to 450 and now it works?

Is there a limit on the amount of rows you can use?

The official limit is 999 rows per table.

Ive had tables run with over 10,000 rows yes 10,000 this is not your problem its likely that after row 450 it has an invalid character in excel you can go to edit ( find and replace) and put a space in and replace with nothing

don't forget to highlight the column first tho

    hope it helps.

    Hi Zyptek

    Thats really insightful.

I also have a problem where if i import a CSV file the first 26 lines are blank but the rest are fine?

What characters cannot be used and might upset CSV imports from Excel...
