Images Dissappeared and Can't re-upload

I am having a major problem with my images. I loaded up GS to work on my project, and I noticed that many of the actors had image missing signs on them. The images are still in the image folder at the bottom, but when I double click on them no image comes up. Also, when I try to re-upload the images I get an error message that says cannot upload image. What should I do?

Sounds like a pointer is screwed up somewhere. I've had similar things happen with images before... I also get a lot of crashing when I DARE to upload an image with the same name...

Can you try renaming an image or two and then uploading it under a different name? Then you can re-assign the image (with the new name) to that actor.... and delete the old image from the images window.

    Yes, it's a pain....

You may need to restore an earlier backup.

Are you saving the project files on a network drive, cloud hosting service (e.g. Dropbox), or locally on your hard drive?

I have been using dropbox. I guess that is a bad idea....

Well, I asked because there's a known issue with network home directories and storing files on network devices (file servers). But I use Dropbox and don't have problems with losing images. My students have this problem when they are logged into our OS X server as a client. Once they log in as a local account on the computer, the problem no longer occurs.
