Hey guys,

I know I'm not around as much as I used to be but I thought I'd jump in and share with you my latest game.

codestorm is one of the simplest games I have made but it is probably my favourite.

Take vector graphics from the likes of Tempest and throw in a bit of Flappy Bird/Super Hexagon tough-as-nails gameplay, and you have codestorm!

Check it out, totally free :)

iOS:
https://itunes.apple.com/nz/app/codestorm/id823990287?mt=8

Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.nz.polygame.codestormandroid

And here's a quick demo of me getting a reasonable score (though nothing compared to the top of the leaderboarrds and QS's 33!)

Dizzifying! It looks great and would be even better if you had to shoot some Tempest baddies along the way. :)

Just played it and oh man it makes Flappy Bird feel like Ms. Pac Man.

This is totally uncool. Seriously, you hardly even bothered to change the graphics.

Didn't expect this sort of thing from you @DeepBlueApps‌. You've totally lost my respect.

@POLYGAMe Wayne made this over 8 months ago, its similar but also different he has shapes with nobbles on, background that trances and tbh it plays a lot better then yours as it has different controls.

I'm sure he hasn't copied you and I'm also sure I have seen a few similar games on the stores over the years Super Hexagon, Groove Vortex, Project' 88, Beat Drift to name a few and I believe it was heavily inspired by Super Hexagon.

Oh, of course! He made it 8 months ago, yet decided to release it a few weeks after I made codestorm? Makes perfect sense. Of course, you'll be able to prove all of this, as I have filed legal complaints with Google and if/when it shows up in the iOS App Store, I will do the same.

NONE of those games are or were like codestorm. They may be avoid em ups (the only one I have played is Super Hexagon) and had you released a SIMILAR game, I wouldn't be pissed... but right down to the amount of segments in the rings, the shape and colour of the ship... it's a blatant ripoff. What's worse, you're selling a template so others can make and release the same game. You're making money from something I designed.

Seriously, I struggle to make ends meet as it is. Had my game been a big hit, I wouldn't be worried... I might even be a bit flattered but as another indie dev, you really ought to understand this stuff. And what's more, you've proven yourself to be a liar on top of it all. Eight months...

EDIT: So you deleted the videos of the games you reckon I copied. I'm guessing it's because they were NOTHING LIKE CODESTORM. And seriously, saying codestorm is a ripoff of Super Hexagon is like saying Gran Turismo is a ripoff of Need For Speed, because they are both driving games. Completely different visual and play styles. The only thing they have in common is the genre.

ANOTHER EDIT: You previously accused ME of copying. Your exact words were "who copied who?" and I did take screen grabs. You've edited your response about four times now, the first one said that you didn't even know about the game until yesterday. Choose a story and stick to it.

Oh! That makes it okay then! It's fine to rip off a game, as long as you abuse the original.

But "tbh", you actually removed the most important gameplay aspect, the fact that the ship never stops moving in codestorm... then there's all the issues that come from trying to do 3D with a 2D engine...

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if it's better or not. Even I can admit that it looks great, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a ripoff, "nobbles" or not.

There's no story change the 1st i knew about this game was when Wayne sent me a build Friday and told me it was a game him and his son was working on 8 months ago ,a simplified clone of Super Hexagon...he has no reason to lie.

Wayne asked me to post the following...

"The template was not a copy of your game, however with respect to yourself we've altered the template this morning".

A simple email would of worked...

    Darren.

    Anyway...
I love the game. I think 5 is my high score. Lol.
I read a review of someone saying it didn't quit on a note 2. I have a note 3 and have no problems at all.

Now you've even added the web? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? I'm filing a complaint with the GS team too. You really are a piece of work, Darren.

I think you guys need to take this dispute to private communication now, it has gone on too long and off track for what the thread is. The forum is not the place for this and typically this kind of thing should now be locked down @tatiang @jonmulcahy @tenrdrmer‌
