The number of active forum moderators is a very small footprint. We need more moderators and the criteria should include their level of consistent activity on the forum.
Since my demotion a while back, long story but we were making a tool that upset the GS team, i can't do a lot of useful stuff like close/merge threads etc etc but willing and able like Stormy.
Please don't misjudge the number of 'active forum moderators'. There is plenty going on behind the scenes that no one is supposed to see. The forums are a lot cleaner because of behind the scenes work.
If on the other hand forum members feel there are not enough people helping out with answering questions. Well.... start helping! This is a community!
(That said.... it would be nice to have some more moderators that are willing to build the community.)
@jonmulcahy, I agree totally. Make it a Community Manager/Gamesalad Advocate position. Years ago when I was active on the Unity Boards they had an Manager/Advocate who was always present on the boards and also promoted Unity throughout the web and live in person. I always thought that was just a fantastic idea...
I completely agree that a Community Manager is definitely something that is missing. Someone who can phone up the GS team and say "Hey, this is a big problem on the forums right now, I need to make a statement, give me the low-down."
It wouldn't even need to be a paid position - the key thing would be the direct line to the GS team.
If any more moderators are added I think the friendliness and tone of their posts should be a key deciding factor. Some active members are massively more encouraging and supporting of other users than others.
And for the record, I'm not volunteering :P I'd totally back Stormy though.

GameSalad Staff are looking to fill the void left by SaladStraighShooter's departure, possibly with a Community Manager position. In the interim, as @RThurman said, there is a lot going on behind the scenes that people don't see. We are re-structuring things, re-writing rules, adding responsibilities to current moderators, etc.
I'm here pretty much everyday, so I'm down if needed

Yep to be honest I think we have much more activity than you realize. Granted at times it may seem like we are all away but in reality that's gonna happen from time to time no matter how many moderators there are.

@imGua - Probably best not to bring it up again.. All who do, go missing in the night... @DeepBlueApps - Sorry Darren - that was my fault.. Though it was a fun tool for sure! Gathering dust in a corner of my Hard Drive now...

Hmmm. I see moderators in a lot of threads. Sometimes they are just replying to posts as members...sometimes they are doing their job as moderators. They seem pretty active and on top of things in my opinion...and doing a good job at it.

Just to be clear, I didn't start this thread to imply I want to be a moderator! far from it? I have no interest in being a moderator.
