Paypal it to me at tenrdrmer@yahoo.com I'll take care of it for you.
Well a good 'legit' way is to make a facebook page for it then promote it. $15 a day can get ya around 20-40 likes. I'm not sure how effective it is, but I spent like $100 and am up to 360 likes (on facebook) in about a week. Helps get the name out there. Can't say my downloads have spiked at all, but at least it's a start to get your brand out there.
There's other shadier practices like paying for reviews which increases the visibility in the Store rank. But there's always consequences that could come with that too so ... google it for more info but I wouldn't advise.
Edit- If you were on iOS , you can also participate in their iADs program. Though again, didn't see a substancial jump in my downloads doing that either.
Wouldn't mind hearing from the more successful people did to get their Apps downloaded/noticed.
You send me €60, you get to keep €40 hassle free, and I will take care of it for you.

That is a question I don't think anyone has a really solid answer for. I'm testing out a few new methods and will be posting my results when it is active, but my personal take is general marketing (like paying for banner ads) can be a waste or atleast rarely earn back what you spend. Unless of course you have thousands to spend and you might have a better shot.
As is now, I would probably just suggest paying for an app review on a solid site. Since most of them are now stingy and almost always require you to pay to get a review. I would think it would be more worth it than running ads off $100.
If you do find some solid method with limited funds, let me know.
Paying for reviews, err campaigns as these companies call them, is painting a fine line of what's legal and not with Apples terms of agreement. Just a word of caution.
Tho I do believe majority of the top free Apps have used it in some way.
Nah I'm talking about paying to have an article written not for app store reviews.
