Imitation of rain

Hello to GS Community,
Did anyone of you try to make an imitation of rain? I would like objects to move slighty left and right and in the meantime downwards just as snowy rain.
Thank you

never tried… but I'd of thought particles and using sin or cos with a rand number would be your friends here… … I haven't used particles for ages but supposedly they work really well now in GameSalad and don't take much processing power.
@StormyStudio
I would prefer to spawn objects of 16x16 every second rather than spawning particles because of the processing power it takes.
However, I tried several ways of implementing sin or cos but I cant seem to find the right way.
I have not done this myself, but have seen it done before and the best way is not with individual drops but larger images of drops with graphic mod like screen to overlay for variation - that way your images just cover the scene and don't scroll and you don't have hundreds of actors to manage - just a few which is up to you
If I spawn those objects just once and wrap Y of the scene it would work wonders. The real matter is how to make this movement imitating snowy rain (left and right, left and right,etc...)
@BonepileGames Righto I took 5 minutes to make some really simple rain - to make this rock comes down to time and animation skills - this is just an example of what I was talking about and I will leave it up to you to do the cool rain layers.
I scrapped the mod timer and just used animation for this.

Hi @BonepileGames as @matarua says, it can be done with graphics set to screen, and/or half transparent, using a loop mechanism with movement behaviours.
Or use particles as @StormyStudio suggested. Here's an example file; (it doesn't involve any spawning though)...
It includes rain, snow and ash effects as well.... all the particles behaviours can be tweaked as you want, of course, to subtly (or not so subtly) change the effects.
Your moving object I took perhaps a bit literally ... have included an actor, in the first two scenes, moving left and right; I don't know if this is the sort of thing you meant.

I have rain and snow particles linked below if you want to check it out.

@gyroscope
I cant really see what you did in that project because Gamesalad acts pretty weird not showing the actors where they are placed. I might take a look in it after a few hours when I get back home. Thank you
@jamie_c
I saw your video about 10 different particle effects. I do like snow rain and might buy that template in case I can't find a solution till the end of the day.
you're welcome; on each scene, the actors with the particles behaviours are shown at the top, (bottom for ash one) just outside of the screen.... (I shouldn't have made them transparent... actually, I'll make them opaque now and upload the file again, that way you'll be able to see the actors easily... give me a couple of mins...)

@gyroscope I would suggest direct @BonepileGames to the layers tab in the scene? It's the way to find any actor no matter where it is and what it's alpha is set too
Hi @Deepblueapps has a great rain particle kit on there site

They have another particle kit too both free and loads of other bits worth a look
Yes, good thinking, @matarua
@BonepileGames I've amended the file now to include the actors as opaque, but if I hadn't, you could have found the "missing" actors by clicking on the Scene tab in the Inspector, then the Layers button. Click the disclosure triangle next to Background, then it'll open to show all the actors in the scene. By clicking on any one, the actor will be show has selected in the scene.
Edit: just amended the word "disclosure" that came out originally as "disco sure"... worth mentioning for slight comedic value....

Thanks @zyptek we have a few nice particle effect templates (FREE).

I've used @DeepBlueApps particles effects as learning tools & confirm that they work very well & look very realistic - everything from fire, water, rain, snow etc.
