Is there a way to make the text input field smaller. Whenever I use it, it opens a huge text input field. Is there a way that I can make the text input field scaled down or styled differently?

No. The keyboard input behavior has a single size for the input area. If you don't want to use that, you'll need to add a custom keyboard, which is a lot of work.
