    Have you first added the image to the GameSalad image library (doable via drag and drop) and then added the image to the actor prototype/actor you want it on (also doable via drag and drop)?

    ive dragged to the actor, but unsure how to add to libary, thought dragging to actor would auto add to the game

    Most likely the image you're trying to change to is not in the image folder. Are you using the Change Image behavior or the Change Attribute behavior?

    I'm dragging the image from finder to game salad on the actor screen

    Okay -- and are you sure you don't have any other change image behavior or change attribute behavior which would be changing the image in your actor?

    Another thing you could do is add a display text behavior to the actor. Display the self.Image attribute to see which image the actor is trying to display. This can help you solve what's going on.

    No I'm not sure as I'm a total newb at this. I assumed I could drag and drop. I'm sure I'll figure it out,

    Which version of GameSalad are you using? Can you post a screenshot of your rules?

    right, so i purchased a template.

    Now im trying to change the image of the actor (main character) from a white square. i drag over my image.png to replace the white square and all looks good, however when i test the game im left with the white square not my image.png

    its probably something v easy but ive tried everything.

    using gs on a macbook, running maverick if that makes a diff

    Most likely you are changing the prototype actor image and not the scene image.

    Double click the actor on the scene rather that the one in the actor section and change the image there.

    tried that. still shows up as white square

    I had a similar issue, however I don't remember how I solved it. Try putting all behaviors in the actor into one group and copying then pasting in a new actor created with your image.

    Try deleting the actor from the scene and re-adding it. Are you using any Change Attribute behaviors to change self.Image?

    have you tried to remove the one currently on the scene and then drag a new onto the scene?

    I would look in the otherwise part of the rules because it sounds like your problem is hidden away.

    Contact the template seller for help would be best, we offer free support so would expect others do.

    @RMedia‌

    Make sure you change the image in the prototype (main actors) and drag a new actor into the scene and then see if it works. (Don't delete your old actor) just drag a new one in for test after you have replaced image.

    Select the old ones with cmd+a and press cmd+c to copy, then cmd+v in the new actor to paste.

    maybe its a problem with the attributes b'cos adding them to the new actor presents the same problem has before.

  • gingagaminggingagaming FREELANCE GS DEV Member Posts: 1,685

    @RMedia‌ try adding them one at a time to find the problem.

    @tatiang‌ this appears to be a duplicate post here if you could merge.

    I seem to be dealing with the same issues as RMedia.
    Changing images in templates hasn't been working well. I find that some images will change just fine and other won't at all. I've tried several different methods, with no positive results. I even end up with a white square at times too.

    @RMedia are you using Windows?
