General questions from a starting developer

I was looking through the information and wound up with several questions going unanswered. For example it says I need an iOS developer license. I did some searching and found out that was $100 to start, then I see elsewhere that for iOS publishing you also need a Mac, which I don't have and don't want. Is that true here? It isn't mentioned and there is a windows version of the creator. Also, I see that pretty much any way to monetize a game to recoup that loss is blocked off until you pay for pro version, so how does anyone get started doing anything?

    1. You need a developer license to publish to iOS
    2. You need a Mac to publish to iOS or OS X
    3. You can't use Ads until you are a PRO member.
    4. You can make money by selling your game outright. I believe free members can publish to Tizen and Amazon free.

So, if you're not a mac user, the software is completely useless without paying anything out the gate. Ok, well good to know.

Amazon, Android, Tizen are all Pc Compatible. 2 of them are free to use without a Pro account.

Most business start ups require some costs nothing is free. It takes an investment to make money. Even with a lemonade stand you need to buy the lemons. Why is it with tech people think they can make money by investing nothing? Apple's software requires the use of their SDK Xcode which only runs on a Mac but you can use mac in the cloud to publish. Most of us started with gamesalad when we had no ad options and sold our games outright for $0.99. You can still do that. Many people still sell games outright. In my experience ad revenue is not as lucrative as outright sales even with IAP.

What the free version allows you to do is learn the software which can take months to a year to really learn. Use the time as you're learning to save for the costs involved to publish a game.

And if you're a PC user, it's very easy to upload your file to Dropbox, rent a few server hours on a cloud hosted Mac, and get it published. That developer Liscensce is a little costly, but it's totally worth it if you plan on releasing any iOS apps in the future. I'm not even pro and I have released some very successful paid iOS applications without ads or in app purchases.

Im a huge PC guy...because Im a gamer...I tried the GS version for PC and gave up on it within a week. They almost lost a customer. A friend suggested I get a Mac if I really wanted to use GS and although Im $2500 in the hole with Mac...developers account, going GS Pro and buying template after template...now with Mac Im learning like Fry says...and its been worth it.

The Pro forums have helped me so much it alone has been worth $299.

I doubt you think making money should be free. The Demo version of GS is just what it is...a demo like any other demo...limited. With Pro you get Forums, Ad integration, Game Center and Publishing to many platforms.

Im glad I bought a Mac and went Pro.

You could always by lemonade mix. LoL !
