Getting ready for my first update, have a graphics question

JmattocksJmattocks Member, PRO Posts: 54

I designed my game in 480 x 320. The graphics look decent on my iPhone 5, but I also have the letterboxes on both the top and bottom. If i were to improve the graphics should I redesign my art in Photoshop to double size and then import with resolution independence? And to get rid of the letterboxes should I change my scene sizes to 1136 x 640? Orrrrr is there an easier way to kill 2 birds with one stone?

Hi @Jmattocks Firstly, personally I'd stick with the space top and bottom when the app shows on the iPhone5 (rather than stretching). (Best of both worlds, in effect). Remember you can always change the scene colour - it doesn't need to be black...or extend a background pattern to cover those extra areas.

Doubling the size - width as well as height - of your graphics in Photoshop won't really work for optimum quality: you're probably best off re-doing the graphics again and then importing them.

Don't forget to check Resolution independence before you do this; and make sure your file names are identical to the non-RI versions so you can replace them successfully.
