Just wanted to add you and the other usual suspects are a huge part of the reason a lot of us probably use gamesalad, so this is a big shame!

Ah, man :( sad to see you go! You've -- like everyone else has said -- contributed a lot to the forums. Hope you'll come back though, at least....maybe?

    Take care :) ;)

Although I would be dead against having anyone who runs a 3rd party site to also be moderator,

Then it might shock you to know many of the moderators work for GShelper and one owns it.

It's been a bit of a war scene here lately

I've been avoiding commenting beyond what I did write but please keep in mind that much of what influences someone's decision to leave is based on factors that aren't made public. Darren has his own reasons for leaving, some of which are based on the tightening of the rules by GS Staff and some not. I'm glad people are wishing him well because he deserves it. The other moderators and I have tried to work with him behind-the-scenes to see how we could support his efforts here without breaching those rules and he decided it wasn't for him at this time. Frankly, many of the rules that a small handful of developers are reacting to have been "on the books" for years but weren't consistently enforced. Now that the rules are suddenly consistent for everyone, we hear more complaining.

Meanwhile, we've seen hundreds of new members join in the past few weeks and many veterans sticking around to help out, show off work-in-progress ideas, post demos and tutorials, etc., etc. I think it's a strong community and I hope in time that people who leave for personal reasons decide to return at some point.

The new forum rules stink, but that's the way it is.
Anyways enough of the off topic talk :)

Thanks Darren, when I first started gs I had no clue what to do, then I found your site and watched your videos. Don't know where I would be in gamesalad without your help.

Have a good one and hope you return some day.

Actually I don't think any moderators work for gshelper any more. Jonathan is still the owner but he had earned his moderator position prior to taking over that website. That's all I'm gonna say as far as that.

Darren I've told you privately but we wish you well and I'm sure we'll see you around at some point.

This has truly ruined the rest of my day! @The_Gamesalad_Guru‌ and now @DeepBlueApps‌. :'( What is the world of GS coming to! Without you guys and MANY others (you know who you are!) GS would not be what it is and where it is today! You all have been a true asset to the forums and GS! Hope to see you and others return and others not leave! You guys have inspired many and have changed the lives of many! Hope to see you around!

:'( I need a box of tissues now, thanks! :'(

Truly a sad event. GS may have new members joining the forums but they will be missing out on all of the free tools offered by DBA unless they happen to stumble onto that site. Absolutely bizarre that GS Management doesn't partner up with the third party leaders in GameSalad development and make it a win win for everyone. But honestly looking at the GS Marketplace and how the forums are run, I guess it is really not that surprising.

Hey Darren, I guess you are now a little bit overwhelm. So take some rest, and change your decision. I was really socked to see the "goodbye guys" title posted by deepblueapp and was hoping it is not what I thought it was.

    Good Luck Darren!!!

I understand why you would leave and I think the GS rules blow too, so let me make some of you happy and put it this way.... if your rules run off a great person like Darren what does that say about them...They BLOW!

    I'm out too!

Sorry to see you go Darren, you will be seriously missed. So is this nearing the end for gamesalads best feature, the forum backup, it's the second major loss in a month. If the forum stops offering help, GS will fall flat on its $199 a year stubborn face. Please reconsider @DeepBlueApps‌ I would deffo consider using YOUR third party site forum if you had one....

Thanks for all the kind words its really overwhelming but just to clear something up…

I'm not leaving because of the new forum rules i was actually starting to offer help via mini projects as its sometimes easier to show than explain but it was more a case of being turned down when i asked about a moderator position (something I've held before).

I just thought to myself...."after all these years and everything i've done" but the staff didn't see it the way i did so it made my mind up as i was told there's no positions available at this time.

I felt a little hurt and rejected as I'm one of the more active users…pride i guess.

I've been one of GameSalads biggest supporters over the years when i could of been active on the Corona forums or elsewhere my loyalty was here so its a double whammy really.

    Darren.

@DeepBlueApps You have helped me a lot in the first steps with GS. I bought all your tools that helped many times with my GS projects, its sad to see someone like you leaving the community but I respect your decision and reasons. Thanks for all and good luck Darren!

  • debugdesigndebugdesign Member Posts: 886

I totally understand mate... I get the same slap when I link to free files.

Gamesalad has always been my tool of choice and my graphics are always optimised for Gamesalad first and foremost, but as I am not allowed to tell other Gamesalad users about my graphics my engagement on the forums has greatly reduced.

These rules just break up the community and make GS appear greedy.

I am sad to see you go, and you will always have a link on my website ;)

@deepblueapps i'll always remember the Xmas video message you posted a couple years back with the hot girl oh and all the GS work ;)

Man, you can tell I'm new here still because I don't even know what these "rules" are that are causing all the trouble. But hey! Derren has deepblueapps and deepbluemarket so I'll continue to show support in those two awesome websites :)

I have learned a lot from your free templates and they're crazy not giving one of the most active users a moderator position, they must be mad! But I know exactly where to find you on DBA as does everyone think!

@deepblueapps best of luck to you and DBA has come along way and I'm sure you will do good for yourself. I'll still be dropping by here and there.

    Cheers
