Nice idea. I like your thinking. These contests are really fun. I don't know if I'll participate, but cheers for putting this up.
Maybe if this becomes a popular contest like TOTB and GSH7 I can get a forum badge made for the winner(s)... Who knows.

A year ago, I had horrible experience with it.
Shadows Peak is an atmospheric psychological horror that explores the dark side of a player.
I love the idea of a contest, but this seems very broad. It a matter of "make pretty much any game"?
I'd recommend providing a general theme or genre to focus people. Also, to motivate participation there kinda needs to be a prize

I agree with @Armelline, otherwise i'll just end up making 20 prototypes and not submit any. ..oh, and cash, we need cash! (kidding!)

With the Arcade? I see a lot of games there. I have a game I put there as well I know it works.

I just was trying to get a few certain scenes that for some...might be slightly difficult enough to challenge peoples skills...stuff that should be kind of standard in a game...
As far as a prize goes...meh...i was hoping for the prize to be members talking between themselves in this thread...bumping their ideas around...a gial for members to shoot for. Fun.

I personally am thinking about making a maze...maybe trhow in some stars per level for time o completion, there will be speed power ups...obsticles...key to open doors...and level 3 will be dark with a light following you...to give some light. Thats fairly original.

Just checking....is anyone working on a game for this contest?

Aren't contestants supposed to wait for the thread and then start working? And I would imagine the theme or constraints for the contest would be provided in that same thread.

Well like I said just checking. A few seemed interested. Didnt know if one or 50 will submit. I know Im submittin :-)
Do you not feel the rules I outlined are sufficient ? Hasnt been much activity aboit the contest. Didnt want it to get buried.

As far as waiting to build the game...I just said it cant be in the arcade prior to submit date. At least thats what I felt I was doing. Some of us have day jobs and might only be able to work on it during the evenings. It wasnt a push a build in 2 days. Do you think Ive screwed the pooch on this ?
Complete Guide to iOS Publishing {} Complete Guide to Mac Publishing
It's not that they aren't sufficient. It's just that you're giving people a window of time to complete a game and if you don't offer a theme or constraints when you announce the start of the contest, people can just submit whatever they want and anything they've ever built. It's your contest, so if you're okay with that it's fine. But it becomes less of a contest about "what can you build in two days" and more of "which game do you want to submit to see if you can win, even if it took you a year to make?"

Well...hmm. I had intended for people to only follow the rules to qualify. It wasnt nessearily a build in two days contest. I was expecting to give people time. To make it availiable only on arcade means it has to be tailored to GS arcade. If they submit one they have been working on a year or teo days....it was to make people do certain thing in the app I do not see often in games....:-}.

Sounds good!
It takes a Zombie to know a Zombie!!!
I think it's fine however you want to structure it.

@Thunder_Child I think it's a wonderful idea. I'm a HS game design teacher and I'm going to have my students upload their latest games. They are going to have to hustle to reach their deadline, because their latest games was a flyer with no ending just best score. So they will have to redesign in a 3 days...
Few questions:
1) Just wondering is 3 levels the limit or minimum?
2) By "Must have Audio Settings for FX and Music" do you mean the ability to Mute FX and Music? I'm unclear.
Thanks for offering the contest!
@Radcompany Wow ! This is cool !
The 3 levels are a minimum....you do NOT have to have more than 3.
Audio settings of a sort. This can be just mute or volume control of FX and Music...shoukd you have music...music was not a requirement to qualify for the contest. I did not specify.
Complete Guide to iOS Publishing {} Complete Guide to Mac Publishing
@Radcompany I believe mute should be enough btw...so your class has equal op.
How many students?
Thank you for participating.

@Thunder_Child Thanks for the info. I have 12 if they all can get their current games "re-designed" in the short time. Well, they have FX and Random Music Soundtracks. So I'll just have them add a Setting's button to their Splash Scene with button to turn each off & on, etc. Their original project was to build a cooler "flappy" game....
Well tonight at midnight they can start submitting apps. I guess you can say they have two days to submit before voting for two days.
Remember the game just has to be okayable by the 30th.
