Background Tabs help

I'm new here, and trying to get to grips with this this program. I've already encountered a problem with the Backstage. According to the Gamesalad Windows Manual, page 6, the Backstage, there are supposed to be several Tabs for Game Attributes, Scene Attributes, Actor Configuration, as well as the Main tabs of My Great Project, Inital Scene etc. I have none of these. Can someone please tell me how to get them? A good screenshot of what I'm supposed to have is at the top of page 9 of the Manual.
I have been looking all over the progame to try and find them, but have had no luck. I'm using Vista Home Premium if that helps.
