I need to concentrate on the day job.. but lunchtime I'm doing it again.

One hour self imposed GameSalad game design contest.

I'll announce the theme at 12.30pm

So there's 30 minutes to think up your idea before you start developing at 1pm (BST).

After the hour, put together a video of the game in action and post it on Youtube..

Post to say hi, if your gonna join in as well.

(If you can't make it at 1pm… just give yourself a strict one hour window later to to see what you can do and share it anyway).

i think most of us in the US will be playing later It's going to be 7am on the east coast and 4am on the west coast.

although I do have a 45 minute train ride from 7:45-8:30

We were treated to a lie in today... 6:05am our youngest one started kicking off. He had slept through the whole night for about the 3rd time in a year so not too shabby... he's One next Tuesday...

yea, my daughter turned 3 a week ago, and another one is due august. just like you 6:30 is 'sleeping in"

Anything goes.. make it from scratch in GS creator…

Cool… got my own simple idea… get an actor across the page by inflating and popping square balloons..

Here's my one hour 'Square Balloon' game.

Features: Physics, layers, camera, spawning, popping, textures, sound effects, touch controls and 1 game level. :-)

Here's the time lapsed making of .. squeezed into one minute.

Hopefully some others might produce something later…

Now quick cuppa tea and back to work....

that's awesome! I missed my train so I spent a good 2 hours driving into work. love the idea of this though, it's the perfect length to force yourself to think and maybe a good distraction from the larger projects you work on.

Hmm.. be good to try and find the magic hour where others are free...

Tricky... 7pm BST (London) = 2pm EST (New York) = 11am PDT (Los Angeles)

Maybe it could be evolved into simply being a global lunchtime contest. Where ever you are in the world... what can you make in your lunch break (or train home) based on the given daily theme.

Yeah, since it's just for fun I think you could trust people to say it's a 1 hour contest during any given day. And then have people post anytime during that day. I'd jump in and be honest!

Ok.. hopefully we might see a couple more Square Balloon games yet.

I'll put something together tomorrow as well. With no set time to take part. One hours game design on a given theme when ever you can find the time.

I'd also suggest that you give everyone a day or two to PM you theme ideas and that each time a theme is randomly selected from the eligible ones. That way you get to compete on a theme that you didn't have to think up
