Problem Uploading to Itunes!

So i'm really excited to publish my app and upload it to the app store! Only problem is, after I go through all the steps of setting up the app in iTunes connect, get the provisions, publish on game salad, get the zip file... when I go to 'application loader' and load the zip file, it says there is no .app file in the zip.... I can't find any help on this.... every tutorial I find is outdated by about three or four years... any help on this would be great!!!
