Decelerate

Hi, I am just starting to explore motion, but I can't find a simple rule to decelerate.

If I use the up key for forward movement, and I lift the key, I would like the actor to slow down to a standstill. Using the spacebar or the down key to slow down would also do.

There is a Drag behavior you can use.

I have tried "Drag" in various places: as a rule for the spacebar, as an "otherwise" in my accelerate rule; I have applied various settings, I have even tried the angle at 180º. Nothing. Please give me the idiot's version.

Interesting. Drag doesn't work in the 'Otherwise'. Good catch.
You can put the Drag outside of the rule so it is always active.

Good morning (in Cape Town). Thanks CodeMonkey. I got some drag now.

I could not apply 'drag' at all, but it started to work once I had replaced my background image and dragged my actor back onto the stage. Until that, nothing happened, wherever I placed the drag behavior.

Yea, I've noticed that for some reason if you have an actor instance on the screen, & you move it, sometimes it makes it so that changing the original actor does not change the instance. Weird stuff.
