Anyone else keeping their games private until they're almost ready for release?

So I've been working on a game since April 23rd, which means I've been going hard for 17 nights now. I work 5 hour shifts, every day of the week, which leaves me 10 - 15 hours a night to work on my game. I've been doing this for the full 17 days, which means I've got roughly 200 hours put into this game to date, with another 2 - 400 to go before it is ready for public eyes.
I've kept everything a secret, and plan to do so until a week or two before its launch. Has anyone else been doing this?

It's the right way in my opinion, especially if your idea is unique enough.
If its simple, unique game -> Easy copyable -> Wait!
If it is a more complex game with established systems/mechanics -> Start as early as possible spread a lot of pics about your game all over the the place
Would be the suggestion based on my current level of experience

Most people do this now, because people have demonstrated that they will steal your idea and get it to market before you do. Sometimes there's even a template out before you finish your game, if it's a good game idea. So yes, a week before release is a good time to share your game. Any sooner than that, you will risk getting bent over.
I've actually never released any information regarding any of the games we've produced in the past. And if you ask me why... I won't know what to answer. Perhaps I'm just secretive.. or insecure
I release no information either before or after a project is finished, in fact to avoid my projects being sucked up by the template mills I don't risk uploading them to iTunes either, in fact I won't even allow a project to stay on my hard drive after I've finished it, I will copy it to a USB memory stick, feed the USB stick to a pig, then wait for it to compete its journey through the pig, collect the remains, and after having it cursed by the local witch, throw the USB stick into the sea and then set about my computer with a sledge hammer and circular saw, once completely destroyed I will sweep up the mess left behind and lock it in my safe, which is in my panic room, and then have my place bulldozed and then - after speed-growing a moustache (milk and eggs mainly) and dying my hair - I will go into hiding for a couple of months until the whole situation has calmed down a little.
I don't own a pig so I sometimes release a little bit of information about my apps but in general I keep them private until ready to release. Unless I need help with a specific feature, there's no point in putting information out that can be used in less than respectful ways.
That being said, I always enjoy seeing work-in-progress posts so I guess it is what it is.
