Ball in the air - can't come down - any ideas as to how I can do this?

First of all thank you for all your help. I'm new to Gamesalad and learning from you all everyday. I appreciate those of you have helped answer my questions.

I need to make code where the hero has a volleyball coming at his head. The goal is to keep the ball in the air. I want the ball to come at different angles each time it comes down.

Tap to hit the ball... to keep it in the air.
Move iphone left and right to move hero towards the direction of the ball.
If the hero misses the ball and animation shows ball come down and game is over.

I hope I made that clear.
