New and Noteworthy Question

Does anyone know how or who decides during the review process a app gets put in the "New and Noteworthy" section of the iTunes store. I've noticed that a lot of apps are not version 1.0.0's so how does that make it a "new" app?

Is it at the discretion of the reviewer as to whether the app is "noteworthy" or is there a checklist and if the app at 1.0.0 was deemed not "New and Noteworthy" what makes it that when it's updated is it down to the reviewer liking it and putting it forward?

I'm not sure there is a rule for it. The games that are featured can be great, good, ok and all the way to cr@p. I think its at least 50% luck, on someone (from apple, I think) seeing your game and liking it. Not sure.

Anyway, my first game Poodle Invasion has just been featured on 19 stores (not in the USA, for some reason) and its 1.0
But it was features 1 week after its release, so "new" seems to be a little subjective.

Hi nulo, Thanks for the response.

You must have some good contacts getting feature on 19 stores. Does it make a big difference in terms of sales in those countries?

Yes it definitely does.... the average for US new and noteworthy is roughly 100-150 sales a day

Yeah Traffic Ninja was featured about a month after release... so I guess 'noteworthy' is separate from 'new.' But it was shortly after I released an update, so I think the more you update the better chance you have to be featured. (as long as they are good updates)

You're missing the point - there's very little, if anything, that we can do to influence this...

My bad QS, I should of put a smiley.

It is however interesting how updating your app and "New and .. " works.
