    What should we talk about?

  • LumpAppsLumpApps Member Posts: 2,881

    Howdy @BlackCloakGS
I think no one replies because no one has any idea what the role of the presenter is.
Does he have to think of subjects to talk about himself? Does he have to buy the pizza? ;)
    Stuff like that.

    Hope this helps.

I'd love to present one month. However, July is pretty busy for me; I won't have time to prepare.

I'm interested to know more about the scope of the presentation, but I think it sounds like it could be a nice opportunity. I would love to give back in some way. Let's chat more.

The presentation should be about 30-45 mins in length (slides and or a demo would be nice ) and needs to be about GameSalad or game development/design. Things GameSalad user would find helpful or useful. If you have a new method for creating menus in GameSalad or how to navigate the pit falls of Apples app store, game development retrospective are total acceptable or any thing along those lines. You can also talk about basic usage of GameSalad like how use tables or how to make an actor move across the screen.

Things i want to stay a way from. Promoting ones game if there is enough interest and enough games we will have a meetup for just that promoting games. Promoting other non GameSalad dev tools like Unity.

If you are not sure if you idea would fit send me a message on the forums and we can talk about it.

Also you don't have to be local you can present over the internet.

@BlackCloakGS‌ -- do you want suggestions/recommendations/offers in this thread, in meetup.com, or via PM?

  • BlackCloakGSBlackCloakGS Member, PRO Posts: 2,250

@RThurman here is fine. While suggestions/recommendations are great to know people's interest. I am current looking for some one to volunteer for next month July 1st and future meetups.

    @BlackCloakGS‌

I can volunteer for a couple of presentation topics.

For example, I could present on how to do gesture / handwriting recognition in GS. (I think its kind of novel and fun! But its kind of math intensive.)

Or perhaps some in the teaching profession might want to discuss curriculum issues when using GameSalad. (I teach both undergraduate and graduate classes and use GameSalad extensively in them.)

But I don't think either topic will entertain the masses for more than 15 minutes or so.

Perhaps you can run a contest (or perhaps a poll) to see what is on forum member's minds? And then have Steve or someone try to answer. (Not that's entertainment!)

How about a 'stump the devs' session? That is, ask everyone to think up their wackiest question and then have a real-time problem solving session.

    Anyway... just some ideas....

@RThurman‌ I think " how to do gesture / handwriting recognition in GS" would be a great presentation. Are you up for presenting it at the next meetup?

  • colandercolander Member Posts: 1,610

@RThurman I can't speak for the masses but it would keep me entertained. It is interesting to see what can be done with GS and how far it can be pushed. I collect a lot of templates people make for which I may or may not have an immediate use. But it is good have in the memory bank and refer to when developing ideas and creating projects.

I'd be great to see the active, more experienced members present at one time or another. Would love to have @RThurman‌ present!

Would also love to see @tatiang‌, @Socks‌, @gyroscope‌ present. Others, too, of course, but those are the names that come to mind.

I'd be up for presenting something this fall on using the network tables to collect and share game data between games (not multiplayer). We are expecting out 2nd child this summer, so that's taking up the bulk of my free time now, but once life settles down it would be fun.

@jonmulcahy‌ was another on my list. Maybe @StormyStudio‌ can present too.
