Anyone release an Ipad only game?

Hi Hello,

Was wondering if any one built a game just for the iPad, to optimze for a large screen.
I am not sure about other people here, but I still spend hundreds on iPad games, just recently I bought Broken, monument valley, bumpy road and so on because I need some good quality games.

Do you find people still willing to pay for an iPad only game? Not that there is an issue with money, it's an issue of " are people still looking for cool unique experiences"

Cheers

Personally i develop in ipad or 720p format. This allows me to fit the pad resolutions. and to fit kindle/nook/iphone5/galaxy. Pretty much anything 16:9. We dont make anything in low screen size of like the iphone. Make everything big. and downsize it to fit is how i see it.

**@fadamion cheers, that's how I normally make my projects. However this current one I just started can only be played on iPad due to touch size screen.

If anyone has a game they just made limited to the iPad only and are proud of it and looking for a sale, let me know the game, I am just curious about games made only for iPad. Do they get enough attention, do they have to be lengthly.

There is one of our apps that is Ipad Only. But it is a Sound making app. Kind of like a dj app Called DUBSTEP MAKER. It can only fit tablet sizes because the buttons would become too small. One thing i have noticed with our apps at least. Tablet users are more likely to buy inap purchases. and Chartboost ads seem to do a better eCPM on them.

Hi @CodeCell As has been said, making games/apps just for the iPad isn't particularly unusual...

As for getting enough attention, I think it's just like any other platform, iPhone or Android, etc., make a good game and with a bit of promotion/luck/reviews, etc, it might be relatively successful.

My 3 apps so far are for the iPad only, the 2 almost finished are as well - my other ones all waiting in the wings are mainly for iPad, a small percentage of them for the iPhone. None of 3 already published have had much attention but then I haven't really promoted them enough...

Here are the apps for interest (taking the opportunity for shameless promotion on your thread - thanks! -not that it'll help me  )

Always room for "cool unique experiences" on any platform, for certain - you/we just have to find the one that'll take the buying public's interest - buyers are notoriously unpredictable bunch, whichever sector of the market products are being sold...

As for paying, I really believe that more users are prepared to download a free game than buying it outright; therefore a good way (which I haven't implemented yet personally) is to give your app away for free with only a few levels free to play, then users use In-App Purchase to buy the full game if they want - more chance of sales/reviews that way, I always think...

I have thought about making Bumps 2 iPad only because last time I checked my zoom code was broken.

I think there's enough iPads out there to do well still with the right game.

I made cosmic clusters for iPad only....now that stretch option is available I make all games in iPad format...and stretch during publish for universal. I had no other reason to build for iPad only, other than I didn't know how to make screen sizes work with crop. Still don't.

I made Retro Running Bros. iPad only because I wanted a two player shared device mode that just wasn't possible on the iPhone.

I think bumps 2 would be great. Been a while since the first... But let's not make it all about you :p

I am a big fan of the iPad because it's always been the one size. It's big and I think it represents more quality. Not sure why.

Checked out a few games, and will do some more buying tonight. Who cares about shameless advertising, your earning a sale, I am seeing what people call good games or ipad only games.

Anyone ever created a unique atmosphere game, something along the lines of LAD or something, I only say this because I actually received a few messages about flappy bird clones and I am looking for unique games and not clones of flappy birds.

    Cheers

All three of my games have been iPad only so far. I think the next thing I am going to do is port them all to kindle and nook. I tend to be interested in tablet games just because that is what I personally like to play. I don't like to play games on my phone. It's not really a business decision, just what I prefer.

You can always build your game for Universal, and if you decide it's best for tablets after testing. then release for those only very easily.

I always start with ipad and work from there. I tend to release dedicated versions. One for tablet and one for phones.
