Kickstarter - Any experiences?
Hi Hello,
I am a frequent visiter to Kickstarter (.com if you never heard of it) and I just got this crazy idea, I should create a campaign. I haven't so don't get too worried. I have seen a few Kickstarter attempts and was wondering how they went, I have a million questions I would love to ask, such as who do you tell about your campaign, deciding rewards, deciding the layout, defining the risks with it, what platforms were you targeting etc. Just to see if I should be really taking on a Kickstarter campaign.
I am just hoping, and apologies for how rude this May sound, I can learn from your experience to help make a successful campaign. I understand it has to be a good quality game, which I know I don't have any behind me to fall back on to show I do quality, but I do
Anyway anything would be great?

I haven't used it tbh but think @StormyStudio has although i don't think he met his goal?
I'm sure I've seen others but can't remember the game/members.
I would say after looking at several projects on KS make a REALLY nice video and try and sell it to them in the 1st 10 seconds (i think this is when most will make up their mind to support you or not)…could be wrong of course :P
Good Luck if you decide to go for it!
Darren.

Thanks for sharing, I am pretty sure I funded or a friend funded and introduce me to kickstarter at the time of his first unsuccessful campaign. Would be great to know what changes were made or anything particular that he had learnt.
Even an unsuccessful campaign still holds experience. As for what makes a project sell, for me, its the concept, so many videos have people talking about useless stuff I just want to see the game concepts etc. I just wondering how much behind the scenes work goes on. How do people find out about your campaign, what will the rewards go to. The budge etc. Public relations. Its all these little things that any advice given could go along way. Another issue is do you worry about clones or other developers seeing the progress of development?
A simple search brings up a lot of people's attempts... Going to be a sleepless night going through and watching them all and their progress..
