Video content as in-app purchase

Hi,

I have build an app where user can unlock and purchase a series of video using non-consumable IAP. I use the GS web browser to take the user to the video page. The plan works well until I realize that the video the user purchased can actually be shared by link. This is a backfire to my plan.

My boss gave me a suggestion for me to try:-
When the user purchase the video, gamesalad will download it to the device so that they can view it offline. I'm not sure whether gamesalad is capable of doing this.

I noticed that in iTunes connect, we can host the content with Apple. What does this means?

GameSalad is not capable of doing this. There is no completely reliable way to do this within GameSalad that I know of. You could make a mini video player in GameSalad but that would be inconsistent in its performance.

I've not got much experience using the Open URL behaviour, does it actually display the URL being opened?

    Hi Armelline,

The Open URL behavior does not display the URL bar and that is good. I don't want the user see the URL anyway. But the web site which hosts our videos has a sharing button to social media sites in each video page like Youtube and Vimeo and there's no option to turn that feature off.

I don't think I can make the mini video player as each episode is 20 minutes long and we have 26 episodes total. The only solution that I can think of right now since gamesalad does not support download, is to host the videos somewhere else which doesn't have the sharing capability?

Maybe you have any other suggestion which I can try other than finding another video hoster?

Yes it definitely sounds like you need to host the videos elsewhere, possibly yourself. I'm afraid I know very little about video hosting though.

Ultimately someone determined to do so could find the video location no matter where you host it. But I'd not worry too much about that, people who really don't want to pay will always find a way.
