Taking a u-turn?

So over the weekend, I have been working really hard on one of my future titles and everything was looking great. Art style is Manga/Anime and the characters etc are all coming together.

Then, I decided to change everything to PIXEL ART! Not long finished doing the pixel art and now having to adjust all the in game art again etc is going to take time but hopefully fun.

Has anyone else made a sudden design U-turn? Did it pay off? Or did you learn from any mistakes?

Yep! I've done that! Was it worth it? Yes, in the long run. But dang did it put a huge delay on development. It was for the better, but now I've learned to really make sure I know what I'm going for before ordering the art. ;)

I actually had my game "Steam Jack" mostly finished and it was made with photoshop and pixen but while working on game I had been playing around with Blender 3D and for some reason at the end, I just decided I wanted to change all the art from Pixel Art to Blender Models and not a small game either. but I did and it took a while but I was very happy with results and I got good using Blender, did it pay off not on sales but knowledge a big yes.
