How much does it cost you to run a website?

Hi all,

I currently have a lecture I need to present in two days about the marketing cost involved to get an app or game noticed.
Some real data would be beneficial to that from what actual developers spend on a website for their brand, or a website for their app. I feel a lot of people have a misjudgment on the cost of things and was hoping I can back up a few statements with some data. This would be presented in the question and answer time. Any comments or opinions would also be great too.

Thank for your time and effort :) It's all anonymous.

    You can get a website for $2 a month if you pay 12 months up front. A domain for $10. Load WordPress for free. Use a free theme and boom, you have a website.

    I know... I just set one up less than 48 hours ago.

    Of course.... the more you spend... the faster and "better" the site can be.

    You can get it for free if you use the CMS (such as wordpress, drupal, blogspot) and good templates.

    Or you can have a 'legit' website around $150 (yearly) for the web server and domains.

    Thanks guys. Well you can do a lot for free however I talk to a lot of developers who don't use gamesalad, and money isn't an issue if it means they can get something up and fast. But but it seems different community has different methods.

    Thanks guys

    I chose $10-$50 in the survey as the majority did.

    I've been a Web Developer since 1996, amongst numerous other things, but that price range really only refers to what it costs me to register a domain name and host a small site on shared server at re-seller prices. That does not take into account my time for graphic design, layout and setting up the site. If I were to build a 2 page App Promo site for a client, with an email capture page, game features page including a 1 minute demo video, screen shots and links to the App Store, I would estimate more like $450 - $600 including domain registration and 12 months hosting.

    @freneticz - yes... you can make a free site at WordPress.com or a sites.google.com

    Obviously, they are both free and both impose their own limitations.

    I run this my website http://www.zatackaonline.net for only 14 $ a year (4$ for the server hosting + 10$ for the domain name). So far I haven't had any issues.
