iAds?

I was wondering what happens if I enable iAds without getting pro would that still work? And also if I do buy pro (which I mist likely will in Aug.) how much traffic does my app need to get to start making money? I wanna tell my dad that he could make he's money back and then some so it'll be an easier pitch get me? But I wanna have my facts straight before I make promises and want to see if that's even do able?

(side not how do I change me user name? .-.)

Thanks :)

To make any decent money from ads you need hundreds of thousands of downloads. I make around $5 a month from a game that has around 6k players so far. You'd certainly be better off going paid, ad-free, if you're wanting to make money from your games.

Tell your dad like all developers...you hope to make money...hope to make the app of the year...the one that goes viral....and if you don't...you will at least have fun. Fun is half the reason I make my little arcade games. If you have the skills of art and great imagination...and learn how to use GS...with enough apps you could make your money back...although it is not likely you will even make the money back for your yearly pro account costs...I do expect to probably have to spend the next couple to three years using GS to eventually learn a great deal and actually be able to make full..fun games people like to play..ads can generate a few bucks...making a popular game paid or with IAP I believe is where the money is at.

My opinion is based off what I have now observed after about 9 months of using GS...researching and being apart if the forums....you could be great and wish you luck.

Like I told my wife when I wanted to buy GS and pay for Apple dev license...I may not make money...it will be fun. It will be an expensive hobby.

to answer your first question, you can't enable iAds without being a pro user.

@POLYGAMe @Thunder_Child @jonmulcahy What I told my sister is that "before I pay for GS pro Ill get a bunch of buzz on it like from Instagram, Facebook & Twitter. I know some people who have bunch of followers. So I was going to let them post a screenshot of the game and hopefully their followers will comment and ask what game it was. And once I see a ton of downloads ill ask my dad to pay the 300 bucks. It'll be easier cause I know I could make back my money in no time and just send out an update with iAds on it." Idk does that sound like a good idea?

Oh and cause that's how flappy bird blew up due to social media right?

There is no guarantee you make any money. It depends on the game. Flappy bird is a rarity. No one knows why games like flappy take off it just happens. The reality for 95% of developers is it takes time and experience to make decent money.

Make sure not to do that, your game will probably be rejected for using them without pro, it's happened to many people on this forum.
