Please select the most amount of money you have made from a single GS game. Your choice will not be made public.

*This poll aims to see if substantial money can be made using GS. We know it is not all about the money, but it is nice. Please answer truthfully!

We've had 2 top 20 games Bumps and Red Ball of Goo that both made over $1500 a day while they were flying high, one took 3 months to make one took 24 hours BUT on the flip side we've made games that took several months that have only made $200 total sales and IMO the games that didn't make anything were better.

Little Viking, Blood Flow, Running Wild all decent but all flopped.

There's no guarantee you will make money no matter how good you think your game is.

Do it for the love of it and don't give up your day job would be my advise.

    Darren.

I spend more money on game development than I earn. But I don't understand how to answer your poll. I mean, I have game that made less than 1$, I have a game that made more than 250$. How should what option should I choose in a pull?

@imGua‌ I have made a correction to the post. Please enter the most amount of money that you have made from a single GS game.

@DeepBlueApps‌ Do you have any suggestions on what games do best or tips that could help create higher downloads? For instance, do you advertise a lot, do you create your own art, do you have a team of developers?

Well it's definitely not dependant on using GS or not. For indies who don't have millions to pump into advertising, it all comes down to your ability to promote your game.

@Hopscotch‌ do you have any good ways that we could use to help promote our games?

Yes, an almost surefire way of giving any app a good chance of being noticed.

You need a good thousand downloads per day over the first 3 days and a couple of good ratings. This would bring you on the first page of the store, from there on out visibility will do the rest if your game is actually fun/good.

    (generalization incoming)

Now, since we have a large community of developers, all at some point needing some support upon publishing their game, it should be simple in theory. Everyone subscribe to a blog/twitter/facebook and give their support with downloads when a new community game is announced. Should work right?

GameSalad offers this through their twitter channel and the this forum, and various members have tried this in the past.

The reality though is that everyone is too heads down with their own development, or too secretive to participate. And this is not unique to the GS community.

While in development everyone seems to have blinkers on, when it comes to launch their own game they all go "where is everybody?".

My latest effort to offer a free promotional community service can be found as the blog nominapps (third link in my signature). Or follow the corresponding twitter: nominapps

All it needs is active participation, then everyone will benefit.

p.s. Thank you for those who have participated so far, lets see if more will join in.

@scottharrrules43‌ @Hopscotch‌ thanks for all of the info. I will have to try reddit and see what I can do. I also will check out your developers page, sounds like a good idea!
