Can you make applications using GameSalad?

I haven't used GameSalad yet, although I have already downloaded the creator. My question is can you make applications like a video convertor, educational app, etc. using this program? Or is it only limited to developing games? And if it is limited to games, is unity a better option?

    It is aimed at game creation, which of course limits what it does.

    An educational app should be OK (depending on what it should do), a video convertor is no go.
