Does gamesalad only render what is within the cameras view or does it render even off screen (or out of cameras view) images too? I hope it's the latter.

Thanks

GS renders everything in the SCENE, not just what is in the Camera View...

Well I've noticed when I have more actors on screen the frame rate drops. When the camera is off them it improves. With that said, even if they are off screen the game engine still has to keep track of them so there would still be some affect of having extra sitting in your scene.

Well I am mainly thinking for a background. I was going to have a single background image (since there doesn't seem to be tilemap support?) of around 2000x2000 (more or less) and was hoping that gamesalad would only draw what is within the cameras viewport..... Seems like a pretty standard feature to have.

    Thanks

iphones only accept graphics of 1024x1024 or smaller. So you'll have to chop up your background into smaller images and tile them yourself in GS.

I don't think that is true. I made a game before (for iphone) that used 320x5000 graphics for a background, And it worked fine
